Align a joint to the center of a shape.<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; Select the surface first which is the eyeball. Ex: IF the pelvis&#8217; FIRST child is one of the legs, the local rotation axis of the pelvis will be pointing at that leg. Since the pelvis&#8217; FIRST child is the spine in the Outliner, the local rotation axis will be pointing at the spine.. X direction points towards childs.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Set Preferred Angle\n<ul>\n<li>&#8211; RMB on the <em>pelvis<\/em> joint: Select <em>Set Preferred Angle.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Doing so saves the current pose of your skeleton.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Save\n<ul>\n<li>052212_17-nurbsRigging_02.ma<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>\u00a0Skinning<\/h2>\n<p>Skin the body using Rigid Binding. Rigid binding assigns each <em>surface point<\/em> to a <em>single influence point<\/em>. This type of skinning could break dense geometry when bending, but because NURBS geometry tends to be smooth when bending when there are few CVs, rigid binding will do the trick.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Skin the body\n<ul>\n<li>&#8211; Select the <em>body <\/em>surface, then SHIFT + SELECT the <em>pelvis <\/em>joint.<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; <strong>ANIMATION || Skin &gt; Bind Skin &gt; Rigid Bind &gt; \u25a1<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Rigid Bind Options:<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; <strong>Bind to: <\/strong>Complete Skeleton;<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; Click [BIND SKIN]<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>*<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; Test the affect of the joint rotation on the <em>body<\/em> geometry.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Edit Membership Tool\n<ul>\n<li>You will notice that some points aren&#8217;t assigned to the proper joint when testing. Doing so will remove all influence from a given point, if it had some influence from another joint. <\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>More Rigid Binding\n<ul>\n<li>Geometry that is not intended to deform can be rigid bound to a particular joint. Bind a surface to a selected joint to prevent any deformation.<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; <strong>ANIMATION || Skin &gt; Bind Skin &gt; Rigid Bind &gt; <\/strong>\u25a1\n<ul>\n<li>Rigid Bind Options:<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8211; Bind To: <\/strong>Selected Joints.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8211; RIGID BIND OPTIONS <\/strong><em>(window)<\/em><strong> || Edit &gt; Save Settings;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>&#8211; Click [CLOSE]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>&#8211; Rigid Bind the <em>beakTop<\/em> to the <em>head joint. <\/em>Select<em> the beakTop <\/em>first.<em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/li>\n<li>&#8211; Rigid Bind the <em>hair<\/em> to he <em>head joint.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>&#8211; Rigid Bind the <em>beakBottom<\/em> to the <em>jaw joint.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>&#8211; Rigid Bind the <em>left<\/em><em>upper leg <\/em>to the <em>lLeg joint.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>&#8211; Rigid Bind the <em>left knee<\/em> and <em>shin<\/em> to the <em>lKnee joint.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>&#8211; Rigid Bind the <em>left ankle<\/em> to the <em>lAnkle joint.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>&#8211; Repeat to the right leg.<\/li>\n<li><em>Note: You can parent the geometry directly in the skeleton but it&#8217;s preferred to keep the setup and geometry in separate hierarchies. Vertices affecting that joint will be highlighted. It should only be affecting the upperleg geometry. If not, use the <em>edit membership tool<\/em> to add the vertices that aren&#8217;t affected. The Edit membership Tool is funky.
