Applying a Texture Map

  1.  Create a Polygonal Sphere and add a Blinn Material
    • – Select your surface and select Blinn from the Render Tab.
  2. Adjust Materials Attribute Settings
    • – Open up the Attribute Editor.
    • – Select the furthermost right tab Blinn.
    • – Change the color to red.
  3. Map a Texture to the Color attribute of the Blinn.
    • – Click on the checkered icon right of the Color.
    • – This applies a textured map in replace of the color.
    • – Clicking the checked brings up a menu.
    • – Select Checkered.
    • – Sometimes you will not be able to see the texture in the viewport. You need to turn on Hardware Texturing to see your textures in your viewport.
  4. Adjust the Checker Texture’s Attributes
    • – Once you applied the Checkered texture, you can modify it’s attributes. Here I changes the color of the black checker to green on the checker tab.
    • -If you want to change the placement of the texture on your surface, click on the place2Dtexture tab to modify how the checker texture is placed on your sphere.
    • – Instead of changing one of the checker’s color to green, you can apply another texture on top of that.
    • – Select the checkered box next to the color1 attribute for the Checkered Texture color attribute.
    • – In the popup menu, select Noise.
