Mental Ray Materials

Mental Ray offers materials and shaders useable oly with Mental Ray.

  1. Turn on Mental Ray
    • – Go to MAIN || Window > Setting/Preferences > Plug-In Manager.
    • – Go to Mayatomr.mll and check Load and Auto Load.
  2. Set your Renderer to mental ray
    • – Click on the Render Settings button.
    • – Make sure you have Mental Ray selected.
  3. Create a NURBs sphere
    • – RIGHT CLICK on your surface and select Assign New Material…
    • – Under POPUP WINDOW || Mental Ray > Materials.. select Materials. (This brings up the materials for mental ray on the right side)
    • – Select mi_car_paint_phen.
    • – Open up the IPR render window and adjust the parameters to see the attributes you can modify.
